What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring substance found throughout the body, primarily in layers of the skin. Its purpose is to facilitate skin hydration, consistency and elasticity. As children, we posses high quantities of hyaluronic acid in our bodies which decrease over a person's lifetime. The effects of this can be seen in the reduced effectiveness of the body in wound healing as well as thinner, weaker and drier skin. Due to its organic origin, hyaluronic acid is completely biocompatible, non-immunogenic and non-toxic. Working in chronic and acute wounds, it can act to reduce pain and inflammation in the affected area, as well as promote healing and tissue regeneration.
Fidia has conducted research on the properties, function and abilities of hyaluronic acid in the human body for over 50 years and has synthesised its own unique formula using varying ratios of hyaluronic acid alongside other ingredients, such as: fibronectin, collagen and silver sulfadiazine. Depending on the type, location and stage of the wound one of the four in Fidia's HALO4 range can be administered. Chronic and acute skin lesions are the target problems in Fidia's HYALO4 range and the topical treatments available work to combat the issues that can arise. In conjunction with additional ingredients, hyaluronic acid posses the ability to bolster the body's immune defenses at a wound site, helping to reduce the incidence of microbial contamination.
