HOW ALGINATE WORKS

Algintes are derived from marine brown seaweed and have been used in wound care environments for decades. When exposed to fluid, the alginate forms a soft hydrophilic gel that helps maintain a moist healing environment while supporting moisture management and patient comfort.

WHY ALGINATE

When alginate comes into contact with fluid, it forms a soft hydrophilic gel. This helps absorb moisture, protect the wound or skin environment and reduce trauma during removal

FROM FIBRE TO PROTECTIVE GEL

  1. Absorbs excess moisture
Alginate fibres absorb high levels of fluid from the surrounding skin environment.
  2. Forms a soft gel barrier
The dressing transforms into a soft gel designed to help reduce trauma and friction against sensitive skin.
  3. Supports skin recovery
The moist environment may support autolytics debridement, granulation and epithelialisation processes.
